Teen admits killing nurse in horror hit-run smash

Lyle Leonard Morrison has admitted to causing the death of Lucy Paveley.

An 18-year-old man has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving over a hit-and-run crash at Parafield last month which killed a woman.

Lucy Paveley, 40, was driving to work on August 20 when her car was struck at high speed on Main North Road by an allegedly stolen four-wheel-drive.

The driver of the car, Lyle Leonard Morrison, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court this afternoon where he admitted his driving caused Mrs Paveley's death but denied a manslaughter charge.

He also pleaded guilty to driving disqualified, engaging in a police pursuit and failing to stop after the crash to render assistance.

The maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving is life imprisonment.

Under state law, someone convicted of the offence must serve at least four fifths of whatever sentence is imposed, unless the court finds there are special circumstances.

Defendants are entitled to a sentencing discount of up to 40 per cent if they enter a guilty plea within four weeks of their first court hearing.

Four youths aged from 13 to 15 were also charged after the crash, but cannot be identified.

A 15-year-old from Pooraka is yet to enter pleas to a number of charges including aiding and abetting someone to commit manslaughter.

The other youths had manslaughter charges against them dropped but remain in youth detention on charges relating to offences allegedly committed in the lead up to the fatal crash.

Yesterday, police laid further charges on all five of the teenagers including theft, aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle and possessing a housebreaking implement.

Morrison will appear in court again in November while the younger teenagers will face the Adelaide Youth Court later this month.
