Teen accused of raping autistic sister and robbing house

The Songkhla Provincial Court has approved an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old girl accused of raping her 12-year-old autistic sister with her boyfriend before assaulting her grandmother and robbing her own house.

The 12-year-old girl was rushed to a hospital on August 20 by relatives after her grandmother found her unconscious and exhausted, with severe bleeding that suggested sexual abuse.

The grandmother asked her granddaughter and her boyfriend Sanpitch Gobbai, or "Mok", whether they had committed the crime. At first they denied it, but later admitted to penetrating the autistic 12-year-old with a foreign object.

The next day, the 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend assaulted her grandmother, tying her up with rope, then took a gold ring, mobile phone, 300 baht cash and a motorcycle before fleeing. Police were alerted to the incident by relatives.

Pol Lt Col Prateep On-rod, inspector of Sadao Police Station in Songkhla, said the police have visited the crime scene where the girl was raped and collected evidence. The grandmother and relatives have also been summoned to provide more information.

Pol Col Sawat Srisangyong, superintendent of Sadao Police Station, said the police are now doing their best to locate and arrest the suspects, who are believed to be hiding in Sadao district.

"I'm confident that the suspects will be brought to justice soon," Pol Col Sawat said.
