Teen accused of murder stabbed woman dozens of times, court hears

Police outside a home at Kilburn where a 61-year-old woman was fatally stabbed.

An 18-year-old woman accused of murdering a 61-year-old Kilburn woman last Friday stabbed the victim 30 to 40 times with a knife and was found with bloodstains on her clothes, a court has heard.

On Monday, the court heard the victim was found dead by two people inside a home on Goodman Avenue in Kilburn — in Adelaide's inner north — last Friday afternoon.

Police alleged CCTV footage captured the accused arriving at the address and leaving a short time later.

Police also allege the accused, who was arrested in the area that night, was found with bloodstains on her clothes.

The victim had lived in the area with her husband for "quite some time" and was well-known in the local community, police said.

Police seized a number of knives from the scene including a large silver knife, which was discovered behind a sofa.

The accused's mother sat in on the hearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court, sobbing as the prosecution relayed what allegedly took place on Friday.

The name and identity of the accused has been suppressed by the court with the teenager remanded in custody to face court again in March.

As the accused left the court she called out: "I love you Mum".
