A teenager who allegedly bashed a 71-year-old man leaving him with serious head injuries has been granted bail.
Tyler Jay Austin, 18, is accused of forcing his way into a unit at Northgate, north of Brisbane, about 7pm on Tuesday.
Police allege he assaulted the man inside, hitting his head and body multiple times, before fleeing to a nearby unit.
The 71-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries.
Austin, of Caboolture, was granted bail when he appeared by video-link in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
He is charged with causing grievous bodily harm and breaking into a dwelling with intent.
He is due to face court again on February 1.
