During a furious rally late in an eventual loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow took off on a 4th-and-5 attempt, worked some magic and found Ja’Marr Chase for a touchdown.
As that unfolded, Bengals wideout Tee Higgins was like the rest of us — in awe.
Asked about the play on Monday, Higgins told the media he was as shocked as anybody else once the off-script ball went in the air:
“When he threw it I’m like, who the **** is he throwing it to…whoops sorry! …I look back and next thing you know, Chase is catching the ball…I’m like aw yeah ok, I understand, he knew his guy, gave him a chance and Chase made a play.”
The magical play was one of two fourth-quarter scoring connections between Burrow and Chase to bring the team all the way back and force overtime.
