Tedy Bruschi’s family says he is ‘recovering well’ after suffering second stroke

Tedy Bruschi’s family announced today that he is recovering well a day after he suffered his second stroke.

The former New England Patriots linebacker was able to recognize the warning signs immediately and get medical attention.

Bruschi suffered his first stroke in 2005 shortly after the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl. He later learned that he had a congenital heart defect called a patent foramen ovale. That small hole in his heart ultimately led to a blockage of blood flow in his brain.

He spent his entire career (1996-2008) with the Patriots and will have support from former teammates, coaches and everyone in the NFL family.
