Tedy Bruschi clarifies his remark about Patriots not being very good anymore

Retired New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi seemed to pull a Trent Dilfer on Wednesday. When asked if free agent receiver Antonio Brown might somehow land back with the New England Patriots, Bruschi suggested the Seahawks would be a much more enticing option.

“If I’m Antonio Brown, I’m not touching the Patriots with a 10 foot pole. And I say that because this team isn’t very good anymore,” Bruschi said on WEEI on Wednesday.

The former linebacker and ESPN analyst clarified that he didn’t mean that he didn’t think the Patriots were good anymore. Rather, he was imagining a scenario where that’s what Brown would think.

Here’s what Bruschi wrote on Twitter.

It seems Brown isn’t a good fit for the Patriots after they released him in 2019 within two weeks of signing him after allegations of sexual assault and rape emerged. It’s hard to imagine them wanting to bring him back in.

And to Bruschi’s point, the Patriots offense looked like a mess in Week 6 in their loss to the Broncos. It’s likely Brown wouldn’t have interest in returning to New England, with the Patriots still fine tuning their new offense under Cam Newton.
