Tedric Thompson lands on injured reserve, will have shoulder surgery

Seattle Seahawks safety Tedric Thompson is headed to the injured reserve with a shoulder injury and is set to undergo surgery to repair the torn labrum in the near future. Seattle announced the roster moved Wednesday afternoon.

Thompson started all six of his six games played in 2019, only inactive for two matchups this year. He sat out Weeks 2 and 3, listed on the injury report with a hamstring. Thompson has not appeared on a single report with a shoulder injury this season.

Coach Pete Carroll explained the situation during his Wednesday press conference. “He needs labrum surgery,” Carroll told reporters. “He’s had a shoulder that’s been bothering him for some time now. We’re going to get it fixed up.”

Carroll says Thompson had been battling a sore shoulder for a “good while” but made no mention of why the injury had not been included on any of the reports.

Thompson logged 19 tackles and two interceptions this season for Seattle. Defensive end Dekoda Watson will take his spot on the active roster.
