Teddy Sheringham wants Paul Pogba chased out of Manchester United as he slams star

Teddy Sheringham has ripped into Paul Pogba and claimed the Frenchman should be chased out of Manchester United.

Pogba has flopped since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus in a club record £90million transfer four years ago.

The France star has played just eight games this season due to an ankle problem, before football ground to a halt amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Pogba, who has agitated for a move to either Real Madrid or back to Juve in the next transfer window, has been accused of lacking the desire to succeed at Manchester United.

And former Red Devils star Sheringham has urged United to replace him in midfield.

The man who scored 46 goals in 153 games for United said: "They need to recruit in the right manner and get the right people out. The big one for me is Pogba. There is a lot of talk about him.

"You mention top players and captains. When things weren't going right in our time, Roy Keane put things right, he would drive things on, dig deep and have a say in every game we played in because of his desire.

"Look at Pogba. Does he have that desire? Yes he is talented, but does he get United out of the mire and dig deep? For me the answer is no.

"It is good to be cocky and arrogant at the right time. Dwight Yorke had that but he had the desire to put things right at the right   times and I don't think Pogba has that, so it would be best to get someone else in with the right desire to drag Manchester United on."

Sheringham, meanwhile, believes United are heading in the right direction under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he added: "I like what Ole is doing.

"He has a nice feel at the club and I think he has steadied the ship and things are going in the right direction, but they are still a long, long way off challenging for the championship."
