Teddy Bridgewater tries his hand at Saints pregame chant vs. Dolphins

The New Orleans Saints gave starting quarterback Drew Brees the night off, putting backup Teddy Bridgewater into the lineup for his third start of the preseason. Bridgewater took to his role with gusto, appreciating the intense pregame rituals Brees executes on a weekly basis — including the pregame chant in the middle of a crowd of huddled teammates.

Following warmups, Bridgewater gathered the Saints players around him (a grinning Taysom Hill among them) and rallied the squad for their preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins.

“It’s been a hell of a camp,” Bridgewater shouted, “You’ve gotta love it, man. At the end of the day that’s how it was. Saints on three!”

Whether Bridgewater’s actions were sincere or somhewat tongue-in-cheek is open to interpretation, but it’s clear that he’s well-liked by his teammates. The friendship between him and Hill, the other Saints backup quarterback, is abundantly clear. Hopefully they’re able to send the Saints preseason off on a high note.
