Teddy Bridgewater is going to be a backup again

After Nick Foles signed with the Jaguars, the top quarterback on the market was Teddy Bridgewater.

It wasn’t hard to connect the dots between Bridgewater and the Miami Dolphins.

But even with the Dolphins reportedly offering him a bigger deal, Bridewater will return to the Saints to be Drew Brees’ backup.

It’s unfortunate for Bridgewater, 26, that he hasn’t been able to find an opportunity since suffering a gruesome knee injury back in 2016.

Maybe he’ll get an opportunity with the Saints when Drew Brees retires, but that’s no sure thing either.

Bridgewater spent three seasons with the Vikings after Minnesota drafted him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

In his career, Bridgewater has started 29 games, all but one with the Vikings.

He started the final game of the season last year for the Saints and threw for 118 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a loss to the Panthers. To be fair, Bridgewater was playing with an offensive unit of backups.

We’ll see if Bridgewater finds a team in the 2020 offseason that wants his services as a QB1.
