Teddy Bridgewater connects with Emmanuel Butler for nice TD

It took some time, but the New Orleans Saints offense put their first points on the board during their final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led a scoring drive all the way downfield, linking up with rookie wide receiver Emmanuel Butler for a very impressive touchdown pass.

And it couldn’t have come at a better time for both players, with Bridgewater fending off questions about his effectiveness after an ugly start against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago. Butler has been dealing with his own concerns in the crowded battle for a handful of roster spots at wide receiver, and this clutch touchdown catch could do a lot to give him a leg up over his competition.

Bridgewater stepped aside for Taysom Hill to step into the lineup after this possession, but Hill simply took a knee to run out the clock with 17 seconds remaining before halftime. Saints fans will get an extended look at the explosive reserve quarterback during the second half of this preseason finale.
