Ted Ginn Jr. will race anyone, for the small fee of $10K

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has seen a lot in his NFL career — he’s entering his 13th year, a mark few players reach. While he has many other skills to extend his playing days, the top quality drawing teams to Ginn has been his speed. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds back in 2007 but was recovering from a foot sprain. Ginn claims he’s hit as low as a 4.22 when healthy.

And Ginn knows full well that his speed is his moneymaker. He made an appearance on Bleacher Report’s “The Lefkoe Show” with Adam Lefkoe, where Ginn said he still reigns as the (self-titled) NFL’s fastest player.

Ginn, 34, explained that anyone — another NFL player, a guy on the street, Usain Bolt, or anyone else — is free to challenge him if they pay their way: All he asks in return is a $10,000 check. “Where’s your check at?” he said. “I’m always down to do it. I’ve been running from light pole to light pole my whole life.”

Ginn also mentioned using the length of a football field as a barometer in high school, racing teammates to make a little money.

The way Ginn tells it, he hasn’t been seriously challenged since former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson argued with him at a Miami pool party several years ago. But nothing came of it.

It’s tough to see regular joes lining up, checks in hand, to challenge Ginn in a sprint down Canal Street or St. Charles. But it sure would be fun to see him recreate the Michael Vick scene from FX’s “Atlanta” against some live competition.
