Texas senator Ted Cruz is once again being roasted online, after he accused congressional Democrats of having a “herd mentality” where they “obey Chuck Schumer”, the party’s majority leader in the Senate.
The comments came as the Republican – who’s part of the Senate Judiciary Committee - spoke to Fox News’ Sean Hannity about his opposition to the creation of a vaccine passport system to deal with the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
“It’s a weird thing, Sean. There’s a weird mentality among congressional Democrats that they obey Chuck Schumer and they’ll only answer as ‘sir, yes, sir’,” he said.
However, when a clip of the interview was shared to Twitter on Sunday, the irony wasn’t lost on some people – particularly in relation to a certain former US president whose name sounds like the British term for a fart, and who NPRclaimed now “owns the Republican party”…
No idea whom that could be.
People have since responded to the video to accuse Cruz of “projection” and “hypocrisy”:
