For the second year running, Ilan’s Volkov’s Tectonics returns to Adelaide festival to unite the worlds of classical and collaborative music. The Guardian described the event in 2014 as “sometimes baffling, occasionally annoying, but seldom boring.”
Volkov has curated performances that will go over two days. On the first night, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will debut new orchestral works by The Necks, Jim O’Rourke, Annie Hsieh, and Cathy Milliken, bookended by performances from Sydney’s electro-acoustic ensemble, Splinter Orchestra. On day two, Phill Niblock will unite with new ensembles to premiere experimental electronic, chamber music and a cappella work.
