"Technically perfect" - How Paul Pogba inspired Manchester United in comeback win at West Ham

Paul Pogba showed just why he is Manchester United's most expensive ever signing against West Ham.

The French World Cup winner has flattered to deceive during his second spell at Old Trafford, but against the Hammers, Pogba took the game by the scruff of the neck and played a huge role in helping seal an impressive comeback victory.

He cancelled out Tomas Soucek's opener with a thunderous strike just after the hour mark and he then played a part as Mason Greenwood and sub Marcus Rashford turned the game on its head.

Pogba played a key role throughout the game and inspired the side with his work not just in a defensive capacity but also in an offensive one as well.

Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy sung the praises of Pogba following the win.

"He was asked to play this role and he was terrific," Murphy said.

"He showed so much variation in his game, which impressed me most. The creativity he had, which we know he’s got, but also the defensive element to his game, which he’s been criticised for.

"This was Paul Pogba at his best, most touches of the ball, making things happen.

"Especially in the first half, when Man United were poor, he was the one trying to drive his team forward. He always takes responsibility with his passing.

"When Pogba’s confidence is up, he sees all the pitch, his game intelligence was great. When to go forward and back, winning tackles and fifty-fifties, which we don’t see too often from him.

"When he’s in this type of form, he gives United a different dimension. He gets you out of defensive positions and up the pitch.

"Big moments define games - 1-0 down, yes the subs have come on and made a difference, but you need someone to come on and get that goal to get you back in the game and it was a sensational goal. Just technically perfect.

"Pogba playing like that gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a real headache going forward - a good one."
