A 27-year-old software engineer from Delhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road in Uttarakhand on Monday morning, prompting a police investigation. According to a TOI report, the deceased has been identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Delhi's Kidwai Nagar area. She was employed with a technology firm in Gurgaon. Her husband, Soumya Shricharan, is also a software professional and reportedly works in Pune.
The couple had checked into the homestay on Saturday night during a trip to Uttarakhand.
Police Receive Emergency Call from Homestay
Police officials said they received an emergency call at around 7.30am on Monday informing them that a female guest had been found unconscious inside a room at the property.
A police team, accompanied by medical personnel, immediately reached the homestay. Upon arrival, doctors declared Gayatri dead.
The incident has raised several questions, and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding her death.
Couple Had Married in November 2025
According to police, Gayatri and Shricharan got married on 8 November 2025. Their families are originally from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Investigators said the couple had travelled from Delhi to Rishikesh on 13 June before continuing their journey to Mussoorie.
They reportedly arrived at the homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road at around 11.30pm on Saturday.
What Police Found Inside the Room
As quoted by TOI, Mussoorie police station officer Devendra Chauhan said that police found the woman lying on the floor inside the room.
"The victim was found lying naked on the floor, and there was blood on the bedsheet. We also recovered two empty liquor bottles from the room," Chauhan said.
The findings have become part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have not yet disclosed whether any signs of foul play were detected and are awaiting further evidence.
Husband's Statement to Investigators
According to police officials, Shricharan told investigators that the couple had consumed alcohol before going to sleep in the early hours of the morning.
He reportedly stated that they went to bed at around 3.30am.
The husband further claimed that when he woke up later, he found his wife unconscious and noticed bleeding from her nose.
Police are examining his statement as part of the inquiry.
When approached by media personnel, Shricharan declined to comment on the incident.
Post-Mortem Report Expected to Reveal Cause of Death
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of Gayatri's death.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem examination report, which is expected to provide crucial details about the circumstances leading to her death.
Investigators are also collecting evidence from the room and speaking to relevant individuals as part of standard procedure.
