Tech & Science Daily: Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather sued over alleged crypto ‘pump and dump’

Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather are being sued for allegedly misleading investors by promoting cryptocurrency tokens in an alleged ‘pump and dump scam’.

A lawsuit filed at Los Angeles federal court claims the reality TV personality and the boxer - plus others, including former NBA player Paul Pierce - promoted tokens sold by EthereumMax, or Emax, to boost its price for profit.

The lawsuit has been brought by a New York resident who bought Emax tokens and lost money, and while Kardashian, Mayweather and Pierce are yet to comment, EthereumMax denies the claims.

England’s deputy chief medical officer Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam will be leaving his role.

Professor Van-Tam will step down in March to take up a new role as the Pro-Vice Chancellor for the faculty of medicine and health sciences at University of Nottingham.

Last year was the worst year on record for online child sexual abuse, according to data from the Internet Watch Foundation, which is calling for more support for parents to help spot digital dangers.

The organisation says it investigated 361,000 reports of suspected criminal material in 2021, and says lockdowns had an impact.
