Tech & Science Daily| Celebrity Twitter hack: 22-year-old British man held in Spain

A 22-year-old British man has been arrested in Spain over the hacking of 130 celebrity Twitter accounts that include Kanye West, Barack Obama and Elon Musk.

The hack was apparently part of a Bitcoin scam luring other Twitter users to sign up by transferring crypto to a certain wallet for a double return.

Joseph O’Connor, the fourth person to be charged in the case, faces charges including three counts of conspiracy to intentionally access a computer without authorisation and obtaining information from a protected computer.

Elon Musk says Tesla will most likely restart accepting bitcoin as payments once it conducts due diligence on the amount of renewable energy used to mine the currency.

The crypto jumped eight per cent at this news, and ether surged more than 11 per cent.

Clubhouse has now removed its invite system so that anyone can join the platform, with some 10 million people joining on Android since May.

The social app, which saw explosive early growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, previously required Iphone users to be invited by an existing user or request to join a waiting list.
