Plymouth’s top tech company is expanding and opening a new office after receiving huge global demand for its in-chip technologies.
Moortec Semiconductor, which as named Best Tech company at the 2019 Plymouth Business Awards, is expanding into Bristol city centre.
The new office, located in Bristol’s tech cluster, is Moortec’s third base – it also has a branch in Gdansk, Poland.
Moortec provides monitors and sensors that are found within today’s cutting-edge silicon chips, helping to increase their reliability and performance.
You may well have some Moortec technology in your hands right now, hidden deep within your mobile phone, tablet or laptop.
Moortec has a team of 33 at its Plymouth headquarters and operates globally with customers in the US, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Russia and Israel.
“We’ve a very successful design office in Poland and our main head office in Plymouth - our new additional design office located in the heart of Bristol will really add to our growing company,” said Moortec chief executive Stephen Crosher.
“Time and time again Bristol has shown its confidence in nurturing innovative teams who seek to bring about transformational change to people’s lives through the application of cutting edge technologies.
“Bristol has grown substantially over recent years as a hub for semiconductor start-ups and expanding companies alike. We cannot wait to build upon our success and develop further.”
Moortec, which is now one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, was founded in 2005 with some of the world’s brightest minds and engineers.
“Thanks to our team’s imagination, world-class engineering expertise and determination, we have become the go to leader for in-chip monitoring technology,” said Mr Crosher. “We have brought about a new way of thinking toward maximising device performance, power utilization and reliability across many platforms, including data center, AI (artificial intelligence), HPC (high performance computing), automotive and consumer.
“We are very much looking forward to developing new technologies and products in the embedded monitoring, optimisation and analytics space in Bristol.
“The new office will be a great space for our design engineers and architects to take on new challenges and to demonstrate their true potential in a company that’s expanding rapidly.
“Working with tier-1 companies globally, the new Bristol team will be at the forefront of innovation in this new market space, delivering robust solutions to enhance semiconductor device reliability and optimise chip performance.
“The design team will be working on silicon finFET technologies down to five nano-meter and below.”
The new Moortec Design Office will open within the next few weeks with a launch to be confirmed, but the team is currently seeking bright, talented individuals to join them.
“We’re a rapidly evolving company that is seeking those who like the excitement of challenge and wish to evolve their influence in the design of technology used today,” said Mr Crosher.
“We compete on a global stage that is fast moving, so those seeking responsibility and taking opportunities for leadership are encouraged to contact us.”
