Tech expert reveals the two popular apps that are draining your iPhone's battery

One tech expert has revealed two popularly used apps that could be draining your smartphone's battery.

For years, poor battery life has been the bane of many smartphone user’s lives.

As many apps run silently in the background on your phone, they continue to drain the battery when you may not realise it.

This could be happening even when you’re not using your device that much.

In your settings you can see which apps are using the majority of the power, and make it so they aren’t automatically refreshing in the background.

But even this might not make a dent in all the apps draining your battery life.

However, one tech expert has revealed the two apps which could be draining your iPhone’s battery.

It’s not any of the social media big hitters like Facebook or Instagram either.

Zeeshan Arif, founder and CEO of software company Whizpool, told She Finds that sacrificing two apps could help.

The first they said should go is the popular fitness app Fitbit, which he said would save “hours of battery life”.

Arif added: “The app is great for tracking your fitness and your sleep, but it’s also a huge battery hog.

“If you have a new iPhone, deleting this app will save you hours of battery life.”

The second app on the tech guru’s to-go list was Skype.

The telecommunication app once led the video call market, but at the beginning of lockdown, as video calling became key for so many, Skype found itself outpaced by the likes of Zoom.

He said: “If you want to preserve your phone’s power as much as possible, don’t use Skype.”

Instead he recommended alternative video calling apps.
