Nexperia halts wafer supply to its China plant

Dutch chipmaker Nexperia has stopped supplying wafers to its packaging and testing plant in the Chinese city of Dongguan effective Oct. 26, its Chinese unit announced Nov. 2. Nexperia China said it has sufficient inventory to meet orders until the end of the year and is validating new wafer capacity. The announcement came after China’s Ministry of Commerce said Nov. 1 that it would grant export exemptions for eligible Nexperia China products and criticized the Dutch government for “improper interference” that it said caused supply chain chaos.

BYD’s third-quarter profit plummets

BYD Co. Ltd. (002594.SZ) reported a 32.6% year-on-year drop in net profit to 7.8 billion yuan ($1.1 billion) for the third quarter of 2025. The world’s largest electric-vehicle (EV) maker’s revenue for the period also fell 3.1% to 195 billion yuan, according to an Oct. 31 earnings report.

Li Auto to recall over 11,000 MEGA EVs

Chinese EV-maker Li Auto Inc. will recall 11,411 units of its 2024 MEGA model starting Nov. 7, following a vehicle fire incident in Shanghai, China’s market regulator announced Friday. The State Administration for Market Regulation said Li Auto filed the recall voluntarily under China’s auto defect recall regulations. The move came days after a MEGA vehicle caught fire on Oct. 23 while in motion, sparking widespread public concern. No injuries were reported.

Cambricon sued by a former CTO over equity incentives

AI chip company Cambricon Technologies Corp. Ltd. (688256.SH) is being sued by a former vice president and chief technology officer, Liang Jun, who is seeking compensation for losses related to his equity incentives, the company announced Oct. 31. Cambricon stated the lawsuit will not affect its daily operations.

Hua Hong Semiconductor shuffles chairman again

Chinese foundry Hua Hong Semiconductor Ltd. (688347.SH) has appointed its president, Bai Peng, as its new chairman, replacing Tang Junjun, the company announced Oct. 31. Tang had held the position for less than a year. Bai will continue to serve as president.

Enflame Technology switches IPO sponsor

AI startup Shanghai Enflame Technology Co. Ltd. has changed its prelisting tutoring institution to Citic Securities from CICC, according to a Nov. 1 regulatory disclosure. A company source attributed the change to shifts in the capital market environment and the company’s strategic needs, according to the Shanghai Securities News.
