A beer-loving couple are finally up and running in their new bottle shop and bar.
Mike Fenlon and Emily Penney have opened Alpha Bottle Shop & Tap in the Imperial Arcade, East Street - opposite a derelict bank which is being transformed into a new jazz bar.
The pair have wealth of experience in the beer industry between them, having met while managing King Street pub The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer in 2015.
Since leaving their roles at top brewery Left Handed Giant early last year they have worked towards setting up their own business, and had hoped to launch in March but were delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
They used the additional time to fine-tune their plans - and have today (May 18) finally realised their dream.
Emily said: "It’s been a very long journey getting to where we are today. We’ve shed a few tears and had more than our fair share of 'stress beers'.
"From securing the perfect venue amid a worldwide pandemic to completing a full shop fit out, we are so excited to finally be opening our doors and welcoming people in."
Alpha sells a huge range of refrigerated craft beers for people to take away from both local and international breweries, as well as ciders, local spirits, natural wines and more.
The shop also offers onsite drinking, with a "warm and welcoming" space provided for customers to sit down and enjoy a drink straight from the taps.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be in keeping with Government guidance and current Covid-19 regulations.
A web shop launching soon will provide the option for people to click and collect in store, while orders can also be shipped anywhere in the UK.
Bedminster locals will be able to take advantage of free delivery for any orders over £30 to BS3 postcodes.
