‘Tears of joy’ - Chelsea fans send Marina Granovskaia transfer demand amid Thiago Silva decision

Chelsea fans have demanded that the Blues agree a new deal with Antonio Rudiger after Thiago Silva had his contract extended.

The Brazilian international was one of a number of current Chelsea defenders to see his Stamford Bridge contract at the end of the campaign.

He was linked with a return to former club Fluminense, whilst defensive colleagues Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen have also reportedly been considering leaving Stamford Bridge.

The German has drawn plenty of attention for a decision on his future, having established himself as one of the most domineering defenders in the Premier League under current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

There has been an update over recent days though, with Sky Sports reporting that the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich have opened talks with Rudiger’s representatives just days into the January transfer window.

After seeing Silva commit his immediate future to the Blues, Chelsea fans were united in their opinion of Rudiger doing exactly the same.

Here are the best of their responses from social media following the news.

Silva’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, although Chelsea were keen to keep him at the club following a series of impressive performances.

Joining from Ligue 1 giants PSG, the Brazilian veteran has made 56 appearances in all competitions for the Blues and scored a memorable goal against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.

His new contract will see him stay in west London until the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.
