The 85-year-old, who spent four decades on RTE radio during a career spanning 60 years on the airwaves, died on Tuesday.

A service took place yesterday at Church of St Pius X in Templeogue, South Dublin.

Colleague Dave Fanning was one of those who paid their respects last night.

The funeral Mass for the much-loved broadcaster will take place this morning at 11.30am followed by a private burial.

The chief mourners will be Gogan’s five children Gerard, Orla, David, Grainne and Sinead along with his grandchildren.

The radio star’s wife Florrie died in January 2002.
