Tearful Russell Wilson expresses gratitude for late owner Paul Allen

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson played one of the more memorable football games of his career Thursday night against the Rams, leading Seattle to a 30-29 victory over Los Angeles.

Ahead of the matchup, the Seahawks honored late owner Paul Allen with a posthumous induction into the team’s Ring of Honor. Following the game, Wilson gave his own tearful tribute to the man who gave him a shot in the NFL.

“I’m just a little emotional because we had the tribute to Paul today,” Wilson said in the post-game interview. “He gave me an opportunity, you know. I’m just grateful. Win or lose, God is good. I’m just grateful he gave me an opportunity – God did and Paul. You know this organization – I love playing here.”

Wilson had some additional thoughts to share in a more personal video after the interview was over.

In his game dedicated to Allen, Wilson finished the night completing 17 of 23 passes attempted for 268 yards and four touchdowns, also logging eight carries for 32 yards on the ground.
