Tearaway who starred in BBC documentary tells court he's 'getting too old' for crime

A tearaway who starred in a BBC documentary about young offenders says he is ending his drug-fuelled life of crime.

Brian Don, who featured in 2003 show Chancers, told Perth Sheriff Court: “I’m getting too old. I’m 41 and can’t be bothered with it now. I’ll stop offending and work with the social workers.”

Don was given a chance to stay out of prison by Sheriff William Wood after admitting stealing £374 of gifts and cosmetics in shoplifting sprees at the Perth branch of chemist Boots last year.

Sheriff Wood placed him under supervision for 18 months and told Don: “There are some grounds for hope that maybe you have come to the end of your offending.”
