Tear-jerking deleted Mrs Doubtfire scenes would have made film even more heartbreaking

Prepare to feel ancient, people, because Mrs Doubtfire is 26 years old.

But three decades later, and the Robin Williams nineties classic still has the power to move you both to laughter and tears thanks to the charting of the fortunes of Daniel Hillard, an actor who disguises himself as a female housekeeper in order to spend time with his kids.

While it wasn't short of moving scenes, Mrs Doubtfire could have packed an even weightier emotional punch had two deleted scenes made the final cut.

In the first one, we see a visibly upset Lydia talking to her dad, having just been distracted from her spelling bee by the sight of her parents arguing in the audience.

In the clip she tearfully begs her dad to "pretend" so they can be a real family again.

The second deleted scene shows the aftermath from Sally discovering that Mrs Doubtfire was her ex-husband all along.

Seen through the eyes of the three kids, the footage shows an unpleasant and heated argument between the warring parents.

Luckily, in the film's final cut we see Sally moved as she watches Daniel's show, having agreed to have come and look after the kids once more, so it ends on a more positive note.

But still, for many fans it was a tear-jerking look at the realities of divorce.
