Teams can soon sign free agents without impact on compensatory picks

Teams around the league, including the Seattle Seahawks, have been actively signing their draft class members and adding to their rosters, inking undrafted free agents ahead of rookie camps and the remainder of the offseason activities.

But beginning at 11:59 p.m. ET Tuesday evening, clubs will likely be returning their attention to the veteran free agents still available on the open market.

Timing is the key, as all signings on the books after the evening deadline won’t factor into the NFL’s calculations for determining compensatory draft picks

Teams like the Seahawks, who were prudent in their transactions throughout the first couple of waves of free agency, can now freely sign players and hold onto their projected four compensatory picks in the 2020 NFL draft.

Notable free agents still remain up for grabs, including defensive linemen Ezekiel Ansah, Nick Perry and Ndamukong Suh. Seattle has been linked to a number of recent visits, and with the passing of the deadline, a signing or two could be imminent.

Here’s a look at Touchdown Wire’s 11-best remaining free agents.
