Report: Teams calling Jags about potential Tashaun Gipson trade

The Jacksonville Jaguars have some work to do in terms of freeing up some cap space, and that includes making a decision on starting safety Tashaun Gipson who is due $8 million this season. However, it appears some of the league’s other teams could make that decision a bit easier as the Jags have received inquiries for the veteran according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Keeping Gipson would be great for the Jags, but if they part ways it would be wise to get some kind of compensation for him. He’s been a solid contributor in the secondary, however, Jarrod Wilson is a player that gives the organization a cheaper alternative to the veteran safety.

Gipson, who previously played for the Cleveland Browns, has been with the Jags since 2016 after signing with them via free agency. He’s managed to start in 48 regular season games in the process and has accumulated 159 tackles and six interceptions. He’s a player many teams could use in today’s pass-happy league, but if I had to guess, the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks are all teams who could be interested due to their needs for help in their backfields.
