Team USA officially went undefeated in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers this year as they beat Spain on Tuesday evening, 84–70, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The previous Team USA qualifying results are as follows: Senegal (110–46), Puerto Rico (91–48), Italy (93–59) and New Zealand (101–46).
Kahleah Copper was on fire from beyond the arc on Tuesday, scoring a team-high 20 points with four three-pointers. Kelsey Plum was a star off the bench, putting up 18 points and three three-pointers. Dearica Hamby shined throughout the contest, finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Caitlin Clark finished with seven points and seven assists, one of which went to Paige Bueckers for quite the highlight of the matchup—from one WNBA Rookie of the Year to another.
As a reminder, the U.S. women have already qualified for the World Cup—which will take place in September in Germany—but they officially “booked” their trip with these dominant wins.
