Beach volleyball – Men’s preliminary, USA v Mexico (10am ET)
After beating Tunisia in their first game, Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena look for their second victory as they face a strong Mexican duo in Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen. Dalhausser - who won gold at the Beijing Games - paired with Lucena to prepare for Rio in 2015. USA are favorites to qualify from their pool and advance to the round of 16.
Women’s artistic gymnastics - team final (3pm ET)
There is no secret that Team USA are the team to beat. Nevermind the fact that the US is blessed with the phenomenally gifted Simone Biles, quite possibly the greatest gymnast in the history of the sport. This team has an embarrassment of riches and it’s going to take a monumental effort alongside some extraordinary mistakes for any other nation to even come close. Make sure you tune in to witness history as these five athletes might just be better than the Fierce Five and Magnificent Seven.
Women’s soccer - USA v Colombia (5pm ET)
The US look to top their group and make it three wins in a row as they face Colombia in their final first round match of these Games. The teams previously faced each other at the 2011 World Cup, 2012 Olympic Games and the 2015 World Cup. USA won all those matches without conceding a goal. In addition, they also met back in April for a friendly where the red, white and blue won 7-0.
Swimming evening session (9pm ET)
A lot at stake tonight for Team USA as Michael Phelps looks for his 24th medal at the Games when he takes on the 200m butterfly. Other key events include the women’s 200m freestyle final with the incredible Katie Ledecky, as well as Melanie Margalis and Madeline “Maya” Dirado in the women’s 200m individual medley final. There is also the men’s 4x200m relay - a race the Americans dominated in London four years ago.
