Team USA pulled off a miraculous dodgeball comeback against Canada on ESPN 8: The Ocho

ESPN brought back “The Ocho” on Wednesday and broadcast 24 hours of non-traditional sports action – from the World Lumberjack Championship to the “Best of Chess Boxing.” In arguably the premier event of the day, the second Americas Dodgeball Continental Cup, Team USA staged an unbelievable comeback on foreign soil to stun Team Canada and capture the cup.

The competition was broken into two halves of fifteen minutes, with an individual game clock of three minutes. Teams play as many games as possible until time expires, and each win earns a team two points.

Team Canada (wearing black jerseys) dominated the opening half, opening up a 12-2 lead. The Americans stormed back in the second period, though, shutting out the Canadians and winning six consecutive rounds to tie the match.

Canada took a 14-12 lead with just 2:33 remaining, but Team USA pulled out a clutch win before time expired to force overtime, and took the cup in a shocker. The level of dodging, ducking, dipping, diving and dodging was off the charts.
