With the Tokyo Olympics about a month from starting, the USA Basketball Men’s National Team has officially finalized its 12-man roster.
After Brooklyn Nets star James Harden withdrew his commitment to the team, Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant committed to round out the roster.
The guards on the team are Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns, Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls and Jrue Holiday of the Milwaukee Bucks.
The forwards are Kevin Durant of the Nets, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Khris Middleton of the Bucks and Grant.
The big men are Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat and Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Team USA won’t have any representation from the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James subtly declined after the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs, and Anthony Davis wasn’t expected to commit because he wanted time to heal from an injury-plagued season.
Andre Drummond, Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma were in the pool of candidates Team USA could pick from, but they weren’t likely to get selected unless other players opted out.
Big man Marc Gasol, however, could represent the Lakers for Spain. Spain selected Gasol to its 18-man preliminary roster, along with brother Pau Gasol.
Team USA’s first game is against France in the preliminary round on July 25.
