Team Spirit signs up-and-comer zweih to replace magixx in CS2 roster

Team Spirit has officially begun reshaping its roster for the second half of this year’s CS2 competitive season, signing rising talent Ivan “zweih” Gogin in place of longtime member Boris “magixx” Vorobiev, who was moved to the bench.

The Russian esports organization revealed the roster change on social media on July 7, just hours after confirming magixx’s transition to an inactive role.

Team Spirit’s current roster:

  • Danil ” donk” Kryshkovets
  • Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov
  • Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotja
  • Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov
  • Ivan “zweih” Gogin

This marks the team’s first roster change in one and a half years and signals a new direction as Spirit aims to reclaim its dominance heading into the latter part of the 2025 CS2 calendar.

Magixx had been a mainstay on the team for six years and played a crucial role in its rise to prominence. He was instrumental in Spirit’s top-four finish at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and played a vital part in their historic win at the Perfect World Shanghai Major in December, where his exceptional performances in the semifinals and grand final helped deliver Spirit’s first Counter-Strike Major title.

However, the 22-year-old rifler has faced criticism for inconsistent performances in their recent tournaments. During the team’s shocking 1-2 loss to MOUZ in the quarterfinals of the Austin Major 2025, magixx posted a lackluster 0.90 rating—the second lowest in the series, only ahead of their IGL chopper (0.82).

Team Spirit paid tribute to magixx’s legacy and contributions over his extensive tenure. “We are truly grateful to Boris for all those six years he has spent in Team Spirit. He’s been with us during several crucial stages of the roster formation and hugely affected the very shaping of our unique philosophy,” the team said.

With zweih joining the lineup, Team Spirit hopes to inject fresh energy as they look to dominate the fiercely competitive CS2 landscape.

Zweih is a 17-year-old Russian rising star who made waves in his one-year stint with Nemiga Gaming. He emerged as their top performer throughout the first half of 2025, leading Nemiga to great results in online B-tier tournaments and the Austin Major qualifier. His breakout moment came at the Austin Major, where he turned heads with his impressive performance.

At the Major, zweih put up a solid 1.21 rating in Stage 1, helping Nemiga advance with a 3-1 record. He followed it up with an even stronger showing in Stage 2, posting a 1.28 rating to push his squad into the final Swiss phase with a 3-2 mark. While Nemiga went winless in Stage 3 and exited the tournament, zweih had already proven himself as a rising force in the CS2 pro scene.

It remains to be seen how well zweih will integrate with Team Spirit’s star-studded core, especially alongside donk. But if Spirit’s track record of developing young talent is anything to go by, there’s reason to believe zweih could be their next breakout star.
