Team Spirit by Pippa Funnell – review

Tilly Redbrow and her beautiful grey, Magic Spirit, are closer than ever. After three years together they’ve had many successful Pony Club seasons so it’s no surprise when Tilly is picked for the Pony club eventing championships team. She is joined by talented rider Anna, rich and snooty Kya, joker Ben and handsome Harry.

This new team may seem unstoppable but when it comes to training and the competitions themselves, teamwork isn’t too easy. Join Tilly, Ben, Kya, Harry and Anna as they battle for first place in dressage, cross country and show jumping. Follow them as they make and break friendships, learn new skills and overcome challenges. But when it comes to the competition that means everything, will they put arguments aside or will working as one prove too difficult for them?

Team Spirit

As ever, Pippa Funnell creates a typical horse mad heroine and adds an exciting twist. In this book I found Tilly more realistic and genuine. In the last series Tilly wasn’t as believable whilst in just one book Tilly seems easier to relate to.

The only disappointment with this book was its length. I had hoped Pippa Funnell would lengthen her new quartet of books but they were the same length. In every other way, it’s a great story which I didn’t want to end. I can’t wait for the next two books and would recommend this to pony mad kids aged eight and over.
