Team Ireland welcomed home from European Games after impressive seven-medal haul

Team Ireland arrived home to a roaring applause after their success at the European Games in Minsk.

The team scooped an impressive seven medals, with six coming from Irish boxers.

Chloe and Sam Magee also landed bronze in the Badminton Mixed Doubles.

Minister of State Brendan Griffin was in Dublin Airport to welcome the athletes home and commended them for all their hard work.

He said: “These European Games gave us a fantastic display of the skill and commitment of all of the athletes who were part of Team Ireland.

“Each of them has represented Ireland with pride over the past week and they are fully deserving of their success.

“It is wonderful to see our athletes performing so well during these Games and reaping the rewards for all of their hard work in preparing for Minsk.

“I am delighted to congratulate Chloe and Sam Magee and each of the boxers on their medal wins.”
