Team Ireland fly the flag with pride as Olympics Opening Ceremony gets underway

Team Ireland today got their Olympic Games underway as the athletes emerged as the fourth team in the Opening Ceremony parade into the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

Boxers Kellie Harrington and Brendan Irvine proudly led the Irish team out and their wide smiles were obvious even beneath their face masks as they were warmly welcomed into the stadium.

The whole Irish team bowed in unison towards the Japanese welcoming party in what was a lovely nod to the different culture they are immersed in for the duration of these Games.

In what has been a challenging lead-up to the Olympic Games, Team Ireland looked ecstatic and proud to finally be at the stage of walking out at the Opening Ceremony.
