
PATTAYA: After a short delay with the teams staying onshore waiting for breeze, the wind filled in around midday and the last day of the Top of the Gulf Regatta got underway.
It was a foregone conclusion for IRC Racing 1 yesterday. Having won seven from seven, Team Hollywood added one more final win to their tally to be undefeated and walked away with the title. In the process they stopped THA72, skippered by Noppakao Poonpat, claiming their third title in four years.
Two relatively quick races in IRC Racing 2 saw Fujin finish their series with two wins and the title. Tenacious clearly preferred some of the longer distance racing early on in the regatta and had to settle for second overall.
A three-race shoot determined the winner of the Platu class and while they haven't had it all their own way, Chris Way's Easy Tiger V have been consistent throughout, dominating the class and were the winners. A third, second and first on the last day was too little too late for last year's winners, Team ViewPoint, who had to settle for second this time. Third place was secured by Thai team Pine Pacific, lead by Ithinai Yingsiri.
The inaugural Thailand S\V14 Para Sailing Championship was a success with a total of seven teams and sailors from Estonia, South Africa, France, the Philippines and Thailand taking part. Despite a sixth in the final race, the consistency of Paisol Pateh/ Mahseedi Hadumor (THA) saw them crowned champions.
