Team GB sail to two more gold medals in Tokyo

Team GB sailed to two more gold medals last night in the men’s 49er and Finn classes.

Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell took home the gold in the 49er class. The two started the last round in 2 nd place behind New Zealand but with double points on offer the pair climbed above New Zealand to take the honours.

Fletcher said: "I think it's been super close all week in racing and today showed off what it's been like. It was an intense race but it's mind-blowing to be sat here now being Olympic champions.

"I thought we had it to be honest but I knew it was super touch and go.

"The other guys had right of way over us so we had to be careful to not get a penalty and time everything just right but Stu did an incredible job of making the boat go fast and we just nicked it at the end."

Team GB now has now won 13 golds, with 39 medals won overall at these Olympics.

Giles Scott took Team GB's 6th successive gold in the men’s Finn class.

Scott also took the gold in Rio five years ago.

Previously Ben Ainslie won three consecutive golds after Iain Percy took gold in Sydney.
