A tiny dog was savaged to death by a dangerous Staffordshire Bull Terrier which broke free from its harness.
Teacup Yorkshire terrier Nibbles was attacked by Joseph Robertson’s dog Summer in Glasgow’s Garthamlock on August 8 this year.
Robertson, 54, of Garthamlock, pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control.
It is stated Summer broke free from his harness in the area’s Redcastle Square.
The charge states Summer then “ran aggressively, bit Nibbles on the body and locked its jaws.”
The dog then “shook Nibbles by the body whereby he was fatally injured.”
A Samantha Quinn and Robertson himself were injured following the incident.
Robertson was hurt “while attempting to release Nibbles from the jaws of Summer.
“Thereafter, upon his release, Summer lunged at Miss Quinn.”
Nibbles was taken to a vet for treatment but died two days later from his injuries.
Further information regarding the circumstances will be revealed at Robertson’s sentence next month.
He was granted bail meantime by Sheriff Martin Jones QC pending reports.
