Teachers' unbelievably thoughtful gesture on first day at Bristol school

It is one of the most emotional days of any parents' life but teachers at one school made the milestone even more moving with an unbelievably thoughtful gesture.

Anxious parents could be spotted across the Bristol area this week, waving goodbye to their kids as they bravely crossed through the gates for their first day at school.

But at St Werburgh's Primary School the event was made even more emotional by teachers welcoming the new cohort by handing out a heartfelt note, tissues, a tea bag and a Kitkat.

The note read: "Welcome to St Werbugh's Primary School!

"We hope that the start to school life is a smooth one, but just in case please use this tissue to dry those eyes and then go home, take a break and make yourself a cup of tea.

"Try not to worry"

"If you have any questions please come and talk to us."

One mum uploaded the note to Facebook with a post reading: "This is what I and all the other parents were given by the class teacher as we rolled up to school for the first time.

"What a fab and empathetic school."
