Teachers, how do you feel about Osborne's plans for academies?

In his latest budget, George Osborne set out plans to end council control of schools, saying that all schools in England must become academies by 2020 (or have official plans to do so by 2022).

The chancellor says he hopes that turning schools into academies will “drive up standards and set schools free from the shackles of local bureaucracy”.

But not everyone is convinced: teachers have expressed their concerns and David Blunkett, a former home secretary, has already spoken out, saying that this move imperils children’s life chances.

We want to hear what teachers think. Will you fight the changes or back them? Have you experienced working in a school that has become an academy – and how did this change its overall ethos? Do Osborne’s plans make you excited for the future, or want to quit the profession? Tell us by filling out our form below.
