Teachers' Day 2024: When is occasion and how to celebrate

This is your opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to someone who has positively impacted your life on Teachers' Day.You know the person – someone who is always up for a good conversation, will patiently explain concepts, or lifts your spirits when things are tough. Alternatively, it may be someone who consistently amazes you.

But when is Teachers’ Day in the UK?

What is Teachers’ Day?

Teacher's Day is a day devoted to celebrating and valuing the efforts made by educators worldwide.

On this day, we should honour the ways in which educators are revolutionising the field of education, consider the resources that would enable them to uise their skills to the fullest, and consider the future direction that the teaching profession may go.

WE should also appreciate how difficult the job is, and how it is more of a vocation.

By fostering students and advancing education, teachers have a significant impact on how the future is shaped. It is important to show appreciation to them on this day and listen to any of their concerns.

When is Teachers’ Day in the UK?

In the UK, Teachers' Day is also known as National Thank a Teacher Day, which takes place on June 19 every year.

But don’t worry if you’ve missed it this year. There is World Teachers’ Day coming up on October 5.

It is held on this date because it honours the anniversary of the ILO/Unesco Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which was adopted in 1966 and establishes guidelines for teaching and learning environments, recruitment, retention, and initial and continuing education requirements for teachers.

World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994.

How to celebrate Teachers’ Day

You can buy your teacher some flowers along with a sweet note on a card. Alternatively, you can send a free e-card with a personalised message on the Thank a Teacher website.

Alternatively, just thank them or remember to be more respectful in class, taking time to think of the ways they have helped you. This goes for lecturers as well as school teachers.
