
PETCHABUN: A teacher at a primary school in Muang district faces an inquiry after she taped a "Not yet paid tuition fee 700 baht" notice across the the front of a pupil's shirt.
Seksan Niyompeng, mayor of Phetchabun municipality, wrote on his Facebook page on Friday that he had ordered an inquiry and rehabilitation for the pupil.
The incident occurred at Thesaban 1 (Ban Nai Muang) School, which is under the supervision of the municipal office.
A photo of the pupil with the sign on his chest was posted on social media and quickly drew criticism, with people questioning its appropriateness and calling for the protection of the boy's heart.
Media quoted the school management as explaining the incident happened on Wednesday when it organised a meeting with parents and the 700-baht fee was for employment of personnel and student insurance.
The note was handwritten on transparent tape attached to his shirt.
The pupil concerned had run home to his mother still wearing the message and told her he was punished and no one had talked to him.
The report also said the parents of about 200 students at the school had not paid the fee.
