Teacher saves then day when youngster loses tooth to give to Tooth Fairy

Losing your milk teeth is a big deal for young children.

Not only is it a step towards becoming a "big kid", but there's also the all-important Tooth Fairy financial bonus .

Also, that photo everyone has of them with a massive gap where their front teeth should be is basically a rite of passage.

So you can imagine seven-year-old Lily Sciulli's distress when one of her milk teeth fell out at school and she accidentally threw it away.

Young Lily, from Pennsylvania, was afraid the Tooth Fairy operated a 'no tooth, no payment' policy.

Luckily, teacher Laura Roth was on hand to save the day, Good Morning America reports.

"She was sobbing uncontrollably when it first happened," Laura explains.

Lily had written a letter to the Tooth Fairy explaining her dilemma, but she was still worried that this wouldn't be enough.

Laura knew exactly what to do.

"I told her, 'The Tooth Fairy and I go back 25 years. I'll get in touch with her, no problem'," she explains.

"In the excitement and chaos of lunch time, it was tragically thrown away by accident."

Parents have since come forward praise Laura's handling of the situation.

Interestingly, this is THIRD rime this school year that Laura has had to step in and vouch for a kid with a lost tooth.
