A teacher has cheered up home schooling parents after creating his own Ofsted report – and he gave himself a rating of Requires Improvement.
Mathematician Andrew Jeffrey mocked up his own Ofsted report for the ‘Jeffrey Home School’ based on the kitchen table, near Brighton.
Posting the report on Twitter he said: “Despite rumours they were on furlough, we just had an unannounced visit from @Ofstednews.
“It didn’t go as badly as we feared. Here’s the summary report.”
The Jeffrey Home School received a ‘requires improvement’ rating in all categories including leadership and management, the safety of pupils, the quality of teaching and the achievement of pupils.

The report said the headteacher is “eminently qualified” but is “regularly seen wearing nothing but a dressing gowns and underpants”.
It adds: “This sets a very poor example to the pupils. Also in the evening, both members of staff are often observed drinking alcohol in front of the pupils.”
Other noteworthy comments include pupils late to lessons and leaving class without permission; with one Key Stage Two pupil being caught “playing Fortnite and claiming it was a Geography project.”
He was excluded for two weeks.

Another child was found watching a Netflix boxset without supervision.
Luckily the real Ofsted saw the funny side, replying: “Dear Headteacher. Monitoring visit showed excellent leadership skills in difficult circumstances.
“Our admiration and thanks to all parents and children keeping it together.”
His tweet went viral receiving 5.3k likes from people facing a similar struggle of home schooling.
One user: “Great work. But seriously, you’ve been fortunate to avoid a 4 and questions need to be asked about the role of governors/MAT/LA.”
Andrew replied: “Only because I'm a trained inspector so I knew how to avoid a few obvious pitfalls.”
Another said: “Thank you, this made me smile.”
On Twitter Andrew has been sharing advice to parents about working from home.
Thousands of parents up and down the country have been teaching their children after schools closed for non-essential workers in March.
Andrew runs Magic Message, a teaching resource which brings the ‘magic of mathematics’ to everyone including pupils and teachers by providing workshops, shows and ideas.
