Teacher paid off her wedding and went backpacking round Thailand after making thousands through online betting

A former teacher who had to leave her job due to constant pain went backpacking through Thailand after making thousands through online betting.

Amy Trumpeter, 39, from Anfield, had to stop teaching due to her endometriosis, which meant she was in too much agony to stand in front of a class all day.

Finding herself jobless, Amy tried to find ways she could make money online that would be possible for her from home.

Her aunty sent her a link to a blog all about matched betting - a technique that involves profiting from free bets and incentives offered by bookies.

Amy, who said she's "not a gambler" and didn't even used to watch football, decided to give it a try - and in her first month she was making as much as her teaching salary.

Since starting betting as her 'job' in 2016, Amy has made thousands by cashing in on free bets and offers with online bookies.

The cash generated through her online betting helped pay for a wedding, a solo backpacking trip around Thailand and a Christmas holiday to Cambodia, as well as other travelling adventures.

Speaking to the ECHO about her way of making money, Amy said: "I had two friends at uni who used to do it but I'd never done it before. I'm not a gambler.

"I'm a bit more into sports now but at that point I didn't even bother watching the football - I would maybe do the Grand National once a year."

After a free trial with matched betting website Profit Accumulator, Amy made £45 in 24 hours and decided to sign up.

She said: "In my first month I made £1,800, which is nearly my teaching salary because I couldn't teach any more.

"In the first month I was matching my salary from full time work. The first month you probably earn the most you're going to earn because when you sign up to bookies you get more bonuses as a new customer, like 'bet £10 get £30'."

Now Amy brings in between £800 and £1,000 a month - but admits it can be a "hit and miss" way of making a steady living.

Sometimes her take-home winnings can be £500 for the entire month, with Amy estimating she works for around one hour a day.

Despite the unpredictable nature of her income, Amy's been able to afford some incredible things by matched betting.

She told the ECHO: "I set goals - I wanted to go to Cambodia at Christmas and the cost of the flight was £1,000 and when I set a goal I will achieve it.

"When my husband Simon and I got married it helped us to get our wedding paid for debt free. We got engaged in 2016 and got married in 2018.

"When I had my first big surgery, it took about six weeks to recover and then after that I went to Thailand for a month on my own backpacking.

"I've probably done it for three or four years now. There's always new bookies and new online ones will open up. This thing can happen where you can get banned from a bookies because you're taking too many bonuses but then a new one pops up.

"When the Premier League season starts or for the Grand National there will be new offers. I'll probably always do it to be honest."

Despite making money by betting on football or horse racing and using free offers to secure her bets, Amy doesn't regard what she's doing as gambling.

She admits matched betting wouldn't work for someone with an "addictive personality" and that anyone looking to make money from it has to be strict with themselves and treat it as a job.

But her success through Profit Accumulator has even convinced her mum and sister to join Profit Accumulator and try it out.

She said: "At first my family thought I was bonkers and my dad said 'so, you're gambling?' Then they saw me making money and now my sister and mum have started doing it.

"I think sometimes people need to see it happen. I think that you need to be very strict with yourself."

Amy has set up a travel blog called Temple Seeker, which is dedicated to her adventures funded through the cash she makes by online betting.
