Dear colleague
Hello and welcome to my weekly round-up of all things good and great on the Guardian Teacher Network.
This week I am kicking off the newsletter with an appeal - to anyone interested in global learning.
The Development Education Research Centre, based at the Institute of Education, London is looking for teachers/heads/deputies from English schools to take part in a survey. The DERC is particularly interested in what enables good practice and the impacts of global learning. As a thank you 20 participants will be chosen at random to attend a free CPD course run by the DERC in the summer. The survey should take around 15 minutes to complete and needs to be done by Friday (24th February). For more details click on the survey link, or go DERC website or you can contact Fran Hunt directly on f.hunt@ioe.ac.uk.
New teaching resources on the network:
Sport Relief
Sport Relief 2012 is kicking off in schools on March 23rd so we are flagging it up to you now - we've got lots of resources on the site (including this one on how to make a newspaper front page). For more, simply put Sport Relief in the search - and on Tuesday there will be an article in Education Guardian showcasing many more of the resources available to you.
Lonely Planet
The lovely people at Lonely Planet have an excellent set of resources for pupils aged 8-11 years to celebrate the launch of the Lonely Planet Not-for-Parents series of books. The resources offer stimulating activities covering geography, literacy and ict. You can find them all here: Lonely Planet resources.

Blog of the week
Good news was in abundance on the blog this week but my favourite piece of the week had to be GTP student Kirsty Ratcliffe's article singing the virtues of e-portfolios for use in art classes. Even if you are not an art teacher, do have a read as it is packed with enthusiasm and good ideas that could be adapted for other subject areas.
Do you have something you want to get off your chest? Or an idea you want to share? Then please email blogs editor Emma Drury and give her a brief summary of your ideas.
Looking to change jobs or got a vacancy to fill?
More and more jobs will be coming up for grabs as we head towards Easter and if you are thinking of moving on why not take a look at Schools Jobs where we have more than 1,900 vacancies on offer.
And we also have a special deal for schools placing vacancies with us - just call 020 3353 2010 and we'll run the first advert for FREE - remember 8.7million regular education users read and tap into Schools Jobs.
Seminars coming up
Join award-winning teacher and behaviour guru Paul Dix for a Guardian Teacher Network seminar called Transforming behaviour - a masterclass in behaviour management on Wednesday March, 7. Remember there's a discount for GTN members.
And finally… if you have a friend or colleague who hasn't registered for the GTN yet then if they do so at the moment they could get a free subscription to The Guardian and Observer (either the digital or print version). Details of the competition here. Please do a good deed today, click the send to a friend button at the top and make their Sunday.
With best wishes for the week ahead (and enjoy your pancakes on Tuesday!)
