The bond between teachers and their students can be like none other.
For one maths teacher, this special relationship involves being able to joke around in class.
But the teacher ended up feeling left behind when the class came up with a nickname for them that they had never heard before.
Luckily, the people of Reddit came to the rescue, and everyone was left in tears after the teacher realised what the term meant.
A post shared anonymously to the website by the teacher reads: "Throughout this whole past school year there was this running joke where the students would call me the goat.

"And I would respond back each time that they are the goats and they would all laugh."
The kind-hearted teacher added that they found it "pretty funny" but wanted to know what the nickname meant after realising "I have been partaking in a joke that I never actually got."
"I had a good connection with them, and they are all really good kids, so I don't really think that they were making fun of me," the post continued.
And it turns out the children weren't mocking the teacher, with the term's meaning being quite the opposite.
"GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time," as a Reddit user was quick to point out.
In an edit to the post, the teacher shared their shock. It read: "Omg I am IN TEARS!!! I can't believe they were complimenting me this whole time!!!! Thank you all for answering this question!!!!"
Replying to praise left by commenters, they added: "I put my heart and soul into teaching, this is amazing to hear. Thank you!!!"
The sweet response came after several people suggested the teacher must be an excellent one, given the students' high praise.
One person wrote: "Sounds like you’re a great teacher and they enjoy your classes. Which is saying something since math is most people’s least favorite subject."
Another added: "It's so cute that you didn't realize they were calling you the Greatest of All Time the whole year, and you were calling them the same back. So wholesome."
